A Journey from Learning History to Creating Meaningful Learning Experiences

Since I was young, I have always dreamt of becoming a teacher. Whenever people asked me about my future, my answer was always the same, “I want to be a teacher.”

Today, I am a History Education student in the field of teacher education. I chose History because I enjoy historical stories and the way each story carries meaning and lessons that can be applied to our own lives. Although I remain open to exploring different opportunities in the future, teaching has always remained a meaningful path for me.

My First Steps Towards Becoming a Teacher

My first experience with teaching began in senior high school, when I gave lessons to a family member and taught Quranic studies. These were small beginnings, but they helped me understand something important: teaching is not simply about delivering information. It is about finding a way to help someone truly understand.

As I continued my studies in university, my teaching internship and opportunities to work as a substitute teacher allowed me to experience the real classroom environment. When I first entered the classroom, I experienced something many new teachers can probably relate to; I was so nervous. There were moments when I felt anxious and unsure of what to do. However with every interaction with my students, that nervousness slowly began to fade.

Eventually, I began to enjoy the process of teaching and became more confident in guiding students through their learning journey. One of the things that encouraged me was seeing students welcome me with smiles and kindness. I was also deeply inspired by students who continued trying, asking questions, and putting effort into understanding the lessons.

For me, even a simple positive response from a student can become a strong motivation to continue learning and becoming a better teacher.

Those small moments reminded me that progress in teaching does not always come from something big. Sometimes, seeing one student trying, participating, or finally understanding is enough to remind us why our role as educators matters.

Discovering Kung Fu Quiz to Support My Teaching

While preparing for my research thesis, I was searching for a suitable learning medium that could support my history lessons. That's when I discovered Kung Fu Quiz through TikTok.

After exploring the platform, I became more interested because teachers could combine learning materials with video quizzes, flashcards, and even live quizzes, all to create a more engaging and interactive experience for students.

I then started using Kung Fu Quiz in my lessons, both for presenting YouTube video lessons and conducting quizzes. As I continued using it, I found it really useful to support my teaching approach. The platform was also intuitive, which made it easy to incorporate into my lessons naturally.

My Research Experience with Kung Fu Quiz

Using Kung Fu Quiz as part of my research also gave me the opportunity to observe how my students engaged with the activities and understood the lesson content. The results from my study showed that 82% of my students achieved mastery in the History lesson I taught using Kung Fu Quiz.

But beyond the result itself, the experience taught me something valuable as a future educator: the way we teach can influence the way students experience learning and encourage students to become more involved in the learning process.

Continuing My Journey as an Educator

For me, becoming a teacher is still a continuous learning journey. Every teaching experience, every response from my students, and every teaching tool I try gives me a new lesson.

I have learned that being a teacher is not only about mastering the subject, but also about continuously finding the right ways to help students understand and enjoy the learning process.
